The Signal Room
The Signal Room is a space for young people to speak honestly about the world they are growing into.
It brings together teenagers and young adults from different backgrounds for thoughtful conversations about culture, technology, identity, friendship, education, wellbeing and the pressures shaping everyday life. Participants do not need to be experts, high achievers or polished speakers. The purpose is to hear from ordinary young people whose experiences, questions and ideas are too often discussed by adults without being heard directly.
Each conversation is carefully facilitated, age-appropriate and designed around listening rather than performance. There are no rehearsed positions, predetermined answers or expectations to “win” an argument. Young participants are encouraged to question, disagree, reflect and speak in their own words, while their privacy, consent and wellbeing remain central throughout the process.
The Signal Room forms part of Miko’s World and connects youth perspectives with the wider work of The Age of Culture Project, Horizon and Atlas. Selected conversations may also become pathways into deeper learning, research and intergenerational dialogue.
This is not a stage for perfect answers.
It is a room for real voices, unfinished questions and ideas worth listening to.
